Wishlist - Pretty Spring Lipsticks

If you are a woman who's entire wishlist consists unashamedly of lipstick, then we need to be friends, because it's a type of joy not commonly understood. If not, I hope you will still enjoy looking at my dream spring lipstick wardrobe!

Nars Schiap

 - Let it be no secret that I love Nars lipsticks; They're simply the best, but the color selection is limited. Nars
makes the most amazing reds money can buy, but there isnt much in the way of pinks. That is unless
you're looking for a crazy bright cool pink. Schiap is a bright pink that has a violet undertone to it, which I
think makes it feel cool and electric as opposed to Barbie-ish - and that's exactly why I love it!

Chanel La Fascinante

 - La Fascinante is a Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet, and my god these have the most lovely creamy velvet
texture, it's like silk on the skin and impossibly light-weight, if you have never swatched one then- go now!
This is a bight pink red, and to be honest im just in love with the idea of owning a Chanel red lipstick; It's
just the ultimate symbol of a sophisticated woman... and I can pretend!

MAC Costa Chic

 - As hard as I try, I still can't shake the impulse for coral. I've been kinda on the fence about this one, mainly
because it's quite orange-y which is way out of my comfort zone, but also because many people say it
looks good on girls with tan skin and that's definitely not me! But currently im in love with swatches of it,
so maybe i'll go down to the MAC counter and try it out. What's the worst that could happen? - It's
awful and I talk myself into buying another red lipstick, happens all too often!

 Two Faced Fuchsia Shock

 - Here is a brand that never usually crosses my mind, but this caught my eye in Ulta the other day. It's a
vibrant fuchsia but it's a nice creamy slightly sheer texture. The texture is what stands out for me, sheer and
creamy are not words I typically like, but I thought it would be nice to have something a little softer and
wearable in spring. Just as I was about to seal the deal, I discovered they were all sold out! *sigh* The
worst part... I bought a red lipstick instead -ashamed-.

Trust me, I could go on, but that's all for today. I've been sick and lathargic for the past few days and this has really lifted my spirits; I hope it did the same for you!

Elf Matte Lip Color - Rich Red

Both the blessing and the curse of ELF is that everything is $3. Sometimes you get what you pay for and sometimes it's the best $3 you ever spent; Every ELF product is a gamble but at that price point, who could say no? My latest gamble was a product with my name written all over it, a matte red lip pencil.

Turns out I really love this!

For one thing it's an amazing color. The swatch on the packaging isn't accurate, but this is actually a very vibrant and pigmented red. It's a bright pink toned red which reminds me of one of my favorites, Nars Dragon Girl (I have not compared them yet).

Secondly, I put this to the ultimate test for a red lipstick, dinner, and it passed! There was a little fading but overall I was impressed by how well it held up.

As for the formulation, it's quite creamy and smooth for a matte product. It's definitely not the drying, sticking to dry patches type. However it's not exactly a matte finish, more semi-matte.

I had no problems with my packaging (a common problem with elf), it is very lightweight plastic but the lid snaps on nice and tight so it still feels sturdy. This is a twist product, which I like because you aren't going to waste any and it's easier than sharpening.

Overall, No complaints!

Want to know the best part? If you are a compulsive lipstick buyer... or say a compulsive RED lipstick buyer, then no worries because we are just going to say that this one is guilt free! It's like one of those 100 calorie snacks, it doesn't count!!

Frosty Lilac NOTD

Last week I made a big mistake and went on vacation without any nail products, I never realized I couldn't live a week without them. Within a few days the ocean water had sandblasted chunks of my polish off, my nails got too long and started to break, and all that hand sanitizing dried out my cuticles. My hands were a sore sight; I had a lot of damage control to do when I got home.

So I went rummaging through my collection and decided I wanted something shinny! But glitter nail polish isnt the best thing to put on already damaged nails, so I improvised.

My hands still aren't in the best of shape but I did my best...

OPI Light A Candle is a really pretty purply silver, unfortunately on the nails it just shows up silver. So I layered it with my favorite pale purple, Sally Hansen Lacey Lilac

Metallics are generally a summer or holiday thing, but I think with some color they can be quite springy. So Why not amp up those boring spring pastels??

So that's it, I feel like myself again. And surely I'll be back with a new manicure as soon as this one chips.
Im telling you, you really have to live without something to truly appreciate it; I never knew how much better a good manicure could make me feel!

My Travel Makeup Bag: Spring Break Edition

Last week I was enjoying my Spring Break in the Caribbean; Unfortunately I did have to come home, and going from the sunny, warm, and green tropics to dull, chilly, and dry Southern California was quite depressing. I have a suitcase to unpack, some very upset kittys to tend to, and class tomorrow, So rummaging through my travel makeup bag is a welcomed distraction.

  • I'd never leave home without my beloved Neutrogena Dry Touch Sunblock, hands down the best everyday sunblock I've ever used, it also works well under makeup.
  • I decided to bring Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Foundation because the packaging is travel friendly and it can be sheered out easily for less coverage.
  • Sephora Mineral Compact Foundation is another product I always take when I travel. The compact is travel friendly, and it can double as a setting powder or foundation.
  •  I just had to throw in a concealer. MAC Studio Fix.

  • I ditched the palette in the background at the last minute. It was just a little obsessive for a beach vacation.
  • I did bring MAC Handwritten Eyeshadow. This is probably my favorite eyeshadow. It doesnt look like much but I love the deep chocolate brown color because it's very flattering and versatile.
  • Maybelline Color Tattoo Bad to the Bronze seemed like a good choice, because it's a cream it's travel friendly, and  it's also one of my favorite colors.
  • Then I brought one black eyeliner and My Maybelline Colossal Mascara. Just the necessities.

  • Im very excited to say that I managed to get my hands on MUFE Aqua Brow before I left. It's been on my wishlist for a while, and it did not disappoint!
  • I did restrain myself, I brought only one blush, Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush. I love these blushes and I thought this was a smart choice because it wont break or melt.
  • Just some more boring stuff (that I didnt use), under-eye concealer and some eyeshadow primer.

  • It's a bit much, but I can't go anywhere without bringing at least one red lipstick. So this is an extremely vibrant pinky red, also my favorite red of all time, Nars Dragon Girl
  • Im so happy that I finally bought MAC Impassioned lipstick. I had my eye on it for a while, its an almost neon coral pink, and it's my new favorite spring/summer lipstick.
  • I just brought one casual lip product my Korres Lip Butter. Its a sheer pink color and it's moisturizing.

I think I did a good job at packing just the necessities. I did get a chance to wear everything I packed... just not on the beach of course.

Hope everyone is having a great spring!
